Photographs of the Propylaea - Views of the North Wall of the NW Wing

These images are from the CSA Propylaea Project archives and are copyrighted.
Their use is granted only under the conditions described in the copyright statement.

There are more than 100 images of the north wall of the NW wing here, some showing the entire wall and some showing smaller portions in detail. In addition, there are photographs taken as a stereo-photogrammetry experiment and others taken in the course of the project work with the program called PhotoModeler® in July of 2003. To try to make these images easier to navigate, we have divided them into four groups as follows:

  1. Views of the wall that are either too general or too detailed to fit into a sensible sequence and that were not taken as parts of any group.
  2. A sequence of views of the wall, showing the entire wall in the aggregate. The images have been ordered such that they start at the top left, move across the top, then shift down to the next level and again move across that level left to right, and so on. These photographs were taken by Harrison Eiteljorg, II, in November of 2001.
  3. Stereo-photogrammetry views. There are only eight of these photographs, all created by Manolis Kapokakis in October of 2005 as part of an experiment to test the utility of stereo photogrammtery for surveying the Propylaea. Each photograph is a composite of two images taken a fixed distance apart. Stereo viewing glasses (one red lens and one blue) are required to see these images in stereo.
  4. Photographs taken during the work with PhotoModeler by Harrison Eiteljorg, II.
  5. Additional photographs of individual blockstaken during the work with PhotoModeler by Harrison Eiteljorg, II, to assist with photo interpretation during the measurement process.

A sequence of views of the wall, ordered across the top, left to right, then across the next level down, again left to right, and so on. (Note that each row of photographs includes only four images, but the number of images, right to left, of a given "row" of the wall may exceed that number. Therefore, there is no correspondence between a row of images and a "row" across the wall.) This sequences is one made by Harrison Eiteljorg, II, in November of 2001.
